Men's Health Urbanathlon 2013 on September 29

The Men's Health URBANATHLON is a one-of-a-kind competition that combines traditional road race elements with rigorous obstacles and puts them against a backdrop of the Philippine urban setting.

It is the international signature event of Men's Health.

Post-race, the excitement continues at the Men's Health URBANATHLON Festival, with DJ sets, food and drink, and tons of stuff from sponsors to demo, sample and take home.

  7. Hi,

I've heard really comments about people opting to skip the obstacles due to long wait line. Since you've ran the urbanathlon before do you have any comments on the matter? i.e. any tips in avoiding the lines? or is waiting in line not such a bad thing?

From what I see the two scarier obstacles is the wall climb and the rope climb. Do you think you can share any tips in conquering them? :)

    Thanks,
    Brian

    1. Yeah, saw some runners just skipping obstacles. Since there's a lot of participants, the marshals weren't able to monitor everyone or impose penalties on those runners.

As for me, since I was after the experience rather than getting a good finish time, I didn't mind falling in line. It was fun to try all obstacles.

Wall climb is ok, there are marshals helping push participants up the wall so you need not worry. For the rope climb (tower), this is something new this year. :)

  8. kasama ba yung tower obstacle sa 10k? mukhang dun ako mahihirapan. :)

    1. as far as i know, yes. 10k and 21k runner will both go through the same set of obstacles. 5k runners have less obstacle to go through, but I am not aware what specific obstacles 5k runners will skip.

  10. Thanks for the info!

One good advise i could give is to leave the pack right after the gunstart, this is to avoid long queues for the first series of obstacles.

May i know as well, if the organizer is the same as last year?

    Thanks!

  11. I think kasabay po sya ng candy rush
    hindi kea magkabanggaan sa route?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hello Juan! the Candy Rush race route utilizes Roxas Boulevard. MHU route utilizes Macapagal Blvd. there should be no conflicts. confirmed this as well with the Race Director Coach Joar. :)

  12. Hi! thanks for this info, sir.
It will be my first time to join Urbanathlon and I dont think I can do all the obstacles...
I heard may penalty for skipping. Is it true? what would it be this year?
    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. From the media launch, they have not yet decided what the penalty will be for skipping the obstacles - one option they are looking at is for runners to do burpees. hehe! but this is something still being finalized by the organizing team.
